In-store campaign asks customers to purchase Miracle Balloon for local kids

SALT LAKE CITY and CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (March 31, 2014) — Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is proud to announce that more than 580 Stripes® Convenience Stores will be raising funds this month for needed pediatric equipment, treatments and recovery to benefit local sick and injured kids. Donations from the 14th annual Miracle Balloon icon campaign will flow directly to 13 member children’s hospitals throughout Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Now through April 27, Stripes employees are rallying customers to Put Their Money Where The Miracles Are by purchasing a $1 Miracle Balloon paper icon to help their nearest CMN Hospital. Each donation at the register will be rewarded with a free 12-ounce Stripes Slush Monkey® and a buy-one-get-one free Smokin’ Barrel® Snack Co. Peanuts or Trail Mix snack promotion.

Stripes has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for the past 14 years, raising more than $3.9 million for sick and injured kids. In 2013, Stripes, its associates and customers raised more than $971,000 during the spring campaign and are pushing to hit the $1 million mark this year.

“Year after year, our Stripes team members have passionately fundraised for Children’s Miracle Network and our customers have graciously responded. This year, we have set an ambitious goal to raise record funds for CMN, and we are confident we can achieve our goal for the much needed services and equipment to benefit our local children’s hospitals. We know that together, we can help improve the lives of the children and youth in our market areas,” stated Sam L. Susser, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Susser Holdings Corporation, the parent company of Stripes LLC.

Like all in-store Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraisers, 100 percent of funds raised from Stripes’ four-week campaign will help create miracles by funding needed medical care, equipment and therapy programs that save and improve the lives of 1 in 10 children across North America every year.

“Funds raised through Stripes’ annual campaigns provide life-saving care and needed treatments for kids at our member children’s hospitals,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. “We are so proud to partner for 14 years with an organization that encourages donations to this great cause.”
