Stripes LLC and Workforce Solutions
Honored at the Texas Workforce Commission Annual Conference

AUSTIN – Stripes LLC (Stripes) received the Employer Award of Excellence for the Workforce Solutions (WFS) service area at the Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) 17th Annual Texas Workforce Conference held Dec. 4th – 6th in San Antonio, TX. The Employer Award of Excellence honors employers that are actively involved with their local workforce board and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community.

Stripes is a growing chain of gas stations and convenience stores that has taken advantage of a variety of services offered by WFS. The company has placed 33 job postings on WorkInTexas.com, which has resulted in 50 hires. The company has also partnered with WFS to host numerous hiring events, employer site recruitment, and has utilized the board’s interview and meeting rooms.

“The partnerships between our employers and our local workforce boards are so important in continuing to develop a skilled, well-trained workforce in Texas,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Hope Andrade. “I congratulate Stripes and Workforce Solutions for providing a great example of the power of those partnerships.”

WFS was also recognized for outstanding board performance, receiving $15,000 Performance Incentive Awards for Adult and Dislocated Worker Training-Related Employment, Youth Preparedness, and Choices Employment. The TWC Performance Incentive Awards recognize workforce boards that display increased accountability and improved efficiencies. Monetary awards for achievement in these categories will be used to enhance workforce service programs during the next year.

“This is the first time that Workforce Solutions has been recognized with this many awards; receiving three of the possible four awards. This high achievement is a result of the hard work that staff have done throughout the year, especially the frontline staff who work directly with our customers and help them improve their lives,” said WFS interim CEO Frank Almaraz. “I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to all of our staff and Board of Directors for their continued strives for excellence and commitment to serving our community.”

Workforce Solutions is one of 28 local workforce boards located throughout the state. WFS services Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy counties. The primary goal of TWC and the workforce boards is to respond to needs of Texas employers and workers through locally designed market-driven workforce development initiatives and services.
