STRIPES® CONVENIENCE STORES CAMPAIGN BREAKS RECORD TO HELP MOMS AND BABIES $1 AT A TIME

(TEXAS, OCTOBER 30, 2013) —Stripes Convenience Stores would like to thank its customers for donating more than $536,000 in just two weeks to its 2013 March of Dimes cut-out campaign – far exceeding its goal of $536,000 dollars. For two weeks in October, patrons purchased March of Dimes paper cut-outs, which resulted in a record breaking contribution to the organization. And they did it $1 at a time.
“We are very proud of the passion our Stripes Store teams put into the 2013 March of Dimes fund raising campaign,” said Steve DeSutter, Stripes Convenience Stores President and CEO. “They demonstrated that they care about moms and babies and the valuable work of the March of Dimes to provide for healthier infants.  We are delighted we could do our part and we are especially grateful for the generosity of our customers who partnered with us again this year to achieve this spectacular result.”

In only 5 years, Stripes Stores has raised more than $2.6 million dollars for March of Dimes. Funds from the paper cut-out campaign will help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies, while contributing to research and programs for babies who need assistance to survive and thrive.

One of the most urgent infant health problems in the U.S. today is premature birth. It affects nearly half a million babies each year. The March of Dimes is committed to reducing this toll by funding research to find the answers to premature birth and providing comfort and information to families who are affected.

About March of Dimes
In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrates its 75th Anniversary and its ongoing work to help babies get a healthy start in life. Early research led to the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that all babies still receive. Other breakthroughs include new treatments for premature infants and children with birth defects. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefitted the March of Dimes life saving research and education.
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
